Life in A Shell

Growing up, there was three of us kids. I happened to be the middle child. I have an older brother and a younger sister. Out of the three of us kids, I am the most “boring” looking of the three. Both my siblings have great skin tones with hazel eyes, mine are just brown. Growing up, we fought just like other kids did, nothing too unusual or crazy.

All of us kids having separate fathers, but we grew up with my sister’s dad being the permanent male raising all of us. Overall, my stepdad did all of the financial providing for our family. My mom never had trouble finding work, she just couldn’t “keep” the work.

Personalities

Stepdad- My stepdad is more of a relaxed person. The most reliable person out of the family. Hence, if he says he’s going to pick you up from work at 5pm, he’ll be there at 4:50pm the latest. He was raised Catholic, switched to Christian, and even became a Pastor. He always maintained a job for several years. Now my stepdad liked order and consistency. A Midwestern USA, meat and potatoes type of guy that grew up on a farm.

Mom- Very outgoing, sometimes loud, in your face type of person. My mom is the type of person that will voice her opinion as if it is a fact. Purely confident in anything and everything; right, wrong, or indifferent. Now my mom is from the South, she was raised in a big family with lots of cousins and two siblings as well. She had an older sister and a younger brother. They were not by any means a wealthy family.

My Brother- My brother was born in the same place as my mom, so he’s a Southerner as well. He is probably the funniest person I know to date. He’s short, stocky, and gains respect no matter what environment he’s in. He was very protective as a brother growing up. Unfortunately, he made quite a few bad decisions and hung out with people that did too. He spent time in juvenile detention centers, jail, and the penitentiary. He would get out and go right back. My big brother is an intelligent human being, just made poor choices.

My Sister- She’s much like our mom. Outgoing personality, made friends easy. Generally got along with people. She was kind of rebellious, but she was “the baby” of the family. My sister would take my clothes and shoes (knowing they were way too big) frequently! She likes to joke around, record herself and upload videos to social media for likes/subscribers. Very smart, great with math, and a true animal lover. She’s a Midwesterner as well, just like her pops.

I can’t honestly say that we were never really a super tight-nit family, but looking back, we were much closer back then, than we are now.

As the years aged, so did the distance.
